The Centre is run by volunteers who give their time freely to help all members and visitors with their family history research.
The spacious Centre has an area for viewing the Society's extensive range of microfiche data and books, and there are 12 computers available to access the internet.
Amongst the Society's holdings are the General Register Office's Births, Marriages, and Deaths Indexes from 1837 to 2002; the National Probate Index containing details of 7 million wills; and the Mormon International Genealogical Index (IGI).
Using the Centre's internet connections you can access resources such as Family Search, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's database, and many different record office and library catalogues.
The centre also houses numerous CDs that record millions of family history records from counties across the United Kingdom - a goldmine of information to aid and interest the family historian.
The Centre’s range of research material and equipment is regularly updated and the volunteer assistants in the Centre are happy to assist newcomers in the quest for their family history, and will offer valuable advice and assistance when requested.
