The history of Leicester prison

LRFHS member Richard was a prison officer for thirty years and Leicester Prison’s historian for ten. He now delivers talks locally about the prison’s history.
Often mistaken for a castle, the prison dates back to 1828. The talk will cover the development of the prison over the years, alongside details of those imprisoned there, including 22 who faced the death penalty between 1829 and 1953.
Doors open at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 start. Tea and coffee available plus CD/book stall.
