Speaker – Robert Mee

Almshouses are a type of affordable housing provided by a charity for people in financial hardship, often with age restrictions. Their history stretches back across many centuries and Robert will speak about their origins and development. Many family historians may well have encountered ancestors who lived in almshouses at some time; this is an excellent opportunity to learn about how they may have arrived there and what life would have been like.
