Connecting Leicestershire, Rutland and Family History
Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society has hundreds of members who all share an interest in family history. Whether you live away from the two counties but have ancestors who came from the area or live locally and want to meet other family historians, we can help.
The society has a wide range of resources to help you in your research, whether you are just starting out or are a more experienced researcher. There are resources available at the LRFHS Research Centre as well as the assistance to use them.
Our membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December and subscription rates are given below.
If you take out a NEW membership on or after 1 September then your subscription will extend until 31 December of the following year.
Why join Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society?
- We have a quarterly Journal with 70+ pages carrying lots of articles about family and local history alongside society news and events.
- Our monthly newsletter includes news updates and reminders about events, as well as information about new family history resources.
- Online meetings: we organise a programme of Zoom talks through the autumn and winter seasons on a wide range of subjects relating to family history. These are free to members.
- Our Research Centre is a great resource for anyone able to visit Leicester. It contains a significant reference library and resources that are not available online. There are also volunteers on hand to help with your research if needed.
- LRFHS Surname Interests service can put you in touch with others researching the same surname. Maybe someone can help you break down a brick wall! You may even discover a relative that you never knew you had!
- There are four groups meeting around the two counties (Leicester, Market Harborough, Hinckley and Rutland). Each group organises a programme of talks on local history subjects and sometimes outside visits to places of interest. Members are welcome to attend any group meeting.
