Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society started in 1974 when a group of people attending a family history course in Leicester formed the Leicester Family History Circle. In the years since then, it has developed to become the Society we have today.
How we run
The Society is headed by an Executive Committee and is a Registered Charity. It is run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers and our aim is to encourage and enable interest in genealogy and family history research, not only within Leicestershire and Rutland but also across the country as a whole. To help us to achieve this we operate a Research Centre in Leicester. We also have branches located across the two counties which hold regular meetings. These facilities are open to both members and non-members alike.
Our Journal
We produce a high-quality Journal that is distributed as part of a membership subscription and which includes news, information and articles relating to Leicestershire and Rutland family history.
If you are distant from Leicestershire and Rutland
In addition to branch meetings and our Journal, we organise a programme of Zoom talks covering a wide range of subjects.
Training available
We also run training sessions in Leicester and attend many local heritage fairs and other events.
