Speaker – Stan Rooney.

Ada Lovelace is chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage’s analytical engine. She was the first to recognise the machine had applications beyond pure calculation, and she is often considered the first computer programmer.

Born in London, the only legitimate child of Lord Byron, Ada soon found herself at Kirkby Mallory. Stan will tell her story, highlighting her associations with Hinckley, where a statue of Ada now stands.
