AI for family historians
13 January 2027 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Speaker – Linda Hammond
Linda will introduce us to ways that AI can act as a genealogy assistant, saving time, sparking ideas, and bringing ancestors’ stories to life. She will show how AI can work on tricky old records, translate faded letters, and even suggest alternative surname spellings. There will be examples of how to use tools like ChatGPT, while also exploring the limits of what AI can (and can’t) do.
She will highlight that AI can organize findings, generate timelines, provide historical context, and even help with difficult handwriting – but without replacing the detective work and personal satisfaction of genealogy itself.
