Speaker – Ian Porter

Ian will lift the lid off the real worl of Downton! He will tell us about the relationship between upstairs and downstairs, what all the jobs entailed, and some of the inaccuracies on TV. We will learn about indoor and outdoor staff, leisure time, and the ‘Servant Problem’ from 1901. He will clarify how the Great War changed things.
