Speaker - Susan Barton. Thomas Cook was well-known for their travel business, and Susan will be telling the story of their founder and how the business came to be so famous over the years.

An evening of opportunity to bring along and share challenges and barriers that you have encountered in your family history research. There will be open and friendly discussion and debate, and the combined experience of contributors will be a great help in finding solutions to whatever has brought your research to a shuddering halt.

Speaker - Brian Johnson. Brian is well-known for his comprehensive knowledge of historical businesses and locations across Leicester. In this talk he will focus his attention on the country railway station: how it functioned, who worked there and what they did. He will also touch on record sources useful in your research.

Speaker - Robin Jenkins. Robin is an acknowledged expert on military matters, and this talk will cover experiences in the trenches of World War 1. An opportunity to learn not only what our ancestors endured but also to find out about sources that can help to add colour to the stories of our own ancestors.

To celebrate the end of another year, this evening will be a social gathering built around a group quiz. This should be a challenge to the little grey cells, in a friendly way. An opportunity to reflect on the past year and look forward to the next one.
