Description
This dataset contains a surname/forename index of people away from home (Absent Voters), when electoral registers were compiled for the General Election in December 1918. The Registers were updated in spring and autumn 1919 but names only appear once in the index if the address is the same, occasionally people were registered at two addresses. Also included is a (useful) street/ward index as some streets appear in several wards.
Unfortunately, in Leicester no other personal details survived (for example, name of regiment or regimental number). This index records the voter number, ward name and page, plus the street name (but no house number).
