Baptism Registers and Surname Indexes for the following Leicester churches:

Holy Trinity Church, Leicester

Holy Trinity baptism register has been recorded and indexed from 1841 to 1921 – a total Of 80 Years And 3,963 Baptisms.

St John The Divine Church, Leicester

St John the Divine baptism register has been recorded and indexed from 1855 to 1921 – a total of 66 years and 5,655 baptisms.

St Andrew’s Church, Leicester

St Andrew’s baptism register has been recorded and indexed from 1862 to 1921 – a total of 59 years and 9,027 baptisms.

St Paul’s Church, Leicester

St Paul’s baptism register has been recorded and indexed from 1871 to 1921 – a total of 50 years and 7,074 baptisms.

These four churches are situated on the western side of the town/city, the first three mentioned are clustered close together south/west whilst St Paul’s is north/west. The 25,719 baptisms are not included in the International Genealogical Index (IGI).

This CD contains the names of children or adults baptised, their parents (if given) and surname, plus date, year, microfiche reference and register number. It is not a transcription, does not include any birth dates or additional information. The original registers should be consulted for confirmation of details. They can be seen at the Leicester, Leics & Rutland Records Office and can also be viewed on microfiche there. The Leics & Rutland Family History Society have acquired most of the microfiche.

The register numbers quoted are as in the registers, however, each book starts at ‘1’ and so consequently the register numbers will be repeated. Not all entries were recorded by the incumbent in chronological order.
