Rutland/Oakham Marriage Index 1837-1920.. CD 120

Description

The Rutland Marriage Index fo1837-1920 includes:

• Oakham registration district
• Uppingham registration district
• Rutland parishes in Stamford registration district.

There are three lists for each registration District, one in date order, one with grooms in alphabetical order and one with brides in alphabetical order. Each entry shows the GRO volume and page number of the marriage, names of the parties married, date and the location of the marriage. Note that these lists includes marriages carried out at the relevant Registry Offices and by the registrars at non-conformist venues without their own register. There are over 13,500 marriages on the CD.

During compilation of this index from the registers 4 marriages were found that do not appear in the GRO list. These are show as ‘n/f’ (not found) in the page number column. Early on it became apparent that there were many Anglican marriage records not available at the Leicestershire Records Office. In many of the parishes listed, the records had to be sourced from registers still located at parish churches and in most cases still in current use. LRFHS hopes at some future date, to produce transcription details of these parish registers
