The majority of information for this apprentice index is taken from two Freemen and Apprentices books. They can be consulted at the Records Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland for confirmation (and possibly further details). The Leicestershire and Rutland Family History Society also have copies at their Pilot House Research Centre.
The minor source is the Register of Apprentices Bound or Assigned by the Board of Guardians of the Leicester Union. This can be seen at the Records Office under reference G/12/38.
Occupations and addresses have been included where possible. In some entries no address was given, though according to the source information it is assumed to be ‘Leicester’.
The printed original Freemen and Apprentices books and hand-written Board of Guardians Register have been transcribed and typed by Sue Shore, 2019. The files are in Microsoft Excel format.
