Description
This dataset contains 3 indexes: –
- There are 9000 individual indexed names, mostly of males serving in the forces in World War 1 – compiled by Joan Rowbottom. (Illustrated Leicester Chronicle, Leicester Mercury, Leicester Daily Post).
- The 950 Group photographs are an index of Regiments, Battalions, or occasions – compiled by Sue Shore. (Leicester Evening Mail, Illustrated Leicester Chronicle, Leicester Daily Post).
- Also included is an index of 650 names mentioned in the group photographs – compiled by Sue Shore. (Leicester Evening Mail, Illustrated Leicester Chronicle, Leicester Daily Post).
Any mentioned military details are recorded, together with any location or address. However, some of the details in the newspapers are difficult to read.
